What is a Browser Extension?

An extension is a small piece of software that you may install to enhance the browser’s functionality. Extensions allow you to customize further and improve your browser experience. They range from social media tools to privacy-related features like ad-blocking

There are two common types of extensions.

  1. Extend the functionality of the browser itself
  2. Integrate an existing service with the browser

Extend the functionality of the browser

For the first category, you’ll find things like Picture-in-Picture for YouTube video players, and volume controls Via Mouse wheel, dark mode for websites that don’t have one, split-screen tabs, and tons of aesthetic customizations.

Integrate an existing service with the browser

The second category encompasses things like Google Translate “Save to Dropbox” button, an Evernote web clipper, a Todoist menu in the toolbar, coupons for online stores, and so much more.

There are a vast amount of browser extensions available on the web. We recommend that you look through our list and choose the ones that appeal to you the most. Also, if there’s an excellent, helpful extension Idea you have, please share it with us!
